Every Alaskan knows the pride of seeing someone visit our state for the first time. They step off a plane or cruise ship, take a breath of fresh air and can hardly believe what they see: mountains, glaciers, wildlife and wide-open space unlike anywhere else on Earth. What many people do not realize is that the impact of that moment does not end when their trip does.
At the Alaska Travel Industry Association, we have long believed that tourism is about more than vacations. It is about building Alaska’s future. A new study confirms it.
